in brief

I am a scientist, educator, and artist. I made the Square Party website. I grew up anxious but wonderfully naive, living outside a small town, wandering acres of pine trees and creeks, and now I live in a city, with a broken concrete yard and a metal gate with a lock.

My square has the words Peace, Power, Planet, People. These are topics I consider important and central to a well-functioning society.

what is going on here

In addition to my day job, I developed the Square Party framework. I was, and still am, frustrated because I don't feel like people are represented in government; politicians have always looked like a different species and the system like a world with an admission cost of blood and personality in addition to a huge financial price. I feel like we are capable of so much as a species and yet the world feels increasingly dystopian. I plan to continue my research career until/unless there is a clearly viable alternative.

About the writing on this site. Much of the prose across the pages was drafted by an AI assistant working from my direction, then reviewed and edited by me. The ideas, framings, and substantive choices are mine — the empty square, the two-axis representation model, the domain-as-assembly-seat move, the comprehensive-coverage thesis, the analytical methodology — but this weird new tool made it possible for a single person to do the initial legwork for this project.

If this work proves useful and leads to funding, more can be done by people and the AI tools may or may not be useful. Eventually, pages that people have read through and can vouch for will carry a small Reviewed indicator in the page footer. Until then, you can assume that I have edited the content on the main pages personally, but the details of the Policy proposals need review and the content in the People's Assembly research is mostly AI-drafted, according to my instruction, based on the information obtained through the representation-focused methodology. Either way, you should be able to check every statistic via the referenced source, as well as legal text and major claims. Furthermore, changes are tracked publicly.
